If you secure them, even with a cheap cable lock that can be easily cut with a bolt cutter, they won’t go anywhere. The appeal of stealing wheels is that they’re really easy to steal. For additional security to the wheels I attach a cable lock through them that attach to the u lock. For the wheels I replaced my quick release axles with axles that require a special tool to loosen. It won’t be worth the time, effort, or risk of being caught. If you are smart about where you lock it, that bike isn’t going anywhere. Stealing the whole bike would require a very dedicated, very equipped bike thief. The u lock is susceptible to an angle grinder, but it is impervious to bolt cutters. However a chain lock can be cut with bolt cutters (usually requiring new, sharp bolt cutters). I mean, I’m sure someone can, but it’ll be a messy job. Why two different locks?
